EPW - Continental verge quarter repeater with original erotic automation, 54mm, 18K gold OF original consular case with French hallmarks for the period 1819-1838, casemaker's mark "CF" in lozenge, the spring-loaded cuvette with secret panel which pops up to display the automated couple upon depression of a pin, KWKS, possibly replaced WED, verge escapement, gilt mvt with pierced and foliate scrolled two-footed balance bridge, s#294 within case. Gross weight of assembled watch 83.8 dwt (130.4 g).
CONDITION:
Mvt: NR, runs with reverse pressure applied to fusee, spring and chain intact, fusee apparently frozen, fine mvt condition overall; repeat will strike as high as 11, sometimes strike quarters and other times not, good tone and automated activity; dial with minor edge repairs at 10 and 11; hands excellent; case shows very light wear, some MFS, numerous dents and dings in band, ET detail reduced and fading; bow tight, pendant shows very light wear; good domed glass crystal.
